Acme is a graphic design studio in Toronto focusing on work with clients in the public, creative, and cultural sectors.

Acme works collaboratively with clients to craft work that is as considerate of the conceptual and cultural dimensions of the project as with the minutest details of production. We work on a broad range of projects including visual identities, creative campaigns, author websites, alumni magazines, art catalogues, and books.

Past clients include Against the Grain Theatre, Amplified Opera, Shakespeare in the Ruff, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, University of Toronto Scarborough, New College, the Factor Inwentash School Of Social Work, University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, Trinity College, Emmanuel College, Victoria College, and OISE.

The creative director of Acme is founder Michael Barker. Since starting his career as a graphic design professional with Bruce Mau Design in 1999, Michael has worked for a variety of institutions in the public, creative, and cultural sectors, including working as an in-house designer for the University of Toronto, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Toronto Wildlife Centre. He founded Acme Art and Design in 2008. “Design is my methodology for satisfying both my deep curiosity about our world and my desire to contribute to positive change within it.”

Michael is a Certified Designer (RGD) with the Association of Registered Graphic Designers, a professional organization that promotes professional standards and best practices in the graphic design industry.
